Mission and Vision

We strive towards effective teaching, based on strong moral values and principles, in our academic, cultural and sport activities. We want to create a decent disciplinary environment with the co-operation and involvement of parents, learners and educators/facilitators where learners can reach their full potential.

Each young adult who leaves Vredenburg High School will be empowered to be an active, self-sustaining, contributing member of the society and will have the ability to make a positive difference.

Our Emblem

Only the best satisfies

Our emblem reflects the environment the Vredenburg/Saldanha community and school is "planted" in and which feeds them from: the sea and crop-farming. The three yellow ripe corn-sheaves symbolise the perfect-maturity which stems from growth/germination. Growth can only end in perfect maturity when it is balanced. The number three suggests that VHS regards academic, cultural and sport activities as equally important for the healthy development of our learners. The caravel (wooden sailing-vessel) on the waves symbolises the wealth that came to this area from the sea and over the sea and still is a fountain of life for this area. The colours: gold/yellow symbolises the wealth of real/balanced maturity (as in ripe ears of corn) - the ultimate goal the educators aim at. Red  symbolises courage, guts and perseverance. Blue symbolises the sea and wealth, especially spiritual wealth.
